Top Ten 80's Kid Movies

Here are my top ten 80's/90's kid movies. These all played a big part inspiring me to become a writer and are the type of stories I want to tell. Please point out any movies that you think should have made the list.

#10
Batteries Not Included
I must have watched this movie 100x growing up. I loved the little flying spaceships, lol.
#9
The Witches
This was a really cool movie. It was a little scary for me when I was young, but I still loved it. The lead witch was creepy!
#8
E.T
I loved this movie, but I will admit the book ruined it for me. DON'T READ THE BOOK!

#7
Inner Space
My family banned this movie, as I watched it so many times, lol.

#6
Willow
I love this movie. Willow never gets old. One of the best magical adventure stories told.
#5
Flight of the Navigator
How badly did I want to fly that spaceship? Even today, I come back from the forest, make sure ten years have not gone by.
#4
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The word "Awesome" was invented for this movie.
#3
Labyrinth
I know all the words to all the songs. Love this movie.

#2
Back to the Future
I lurrrrrrrrrrv Back to the Future. Still watch them on T.V, lol. Will never get old!

#1
The NeverEnding Story
The biggest influence on my writing style and my biggest inspiration.

  1. Love your selection as you have some I have never heard of and will have to check out. Batteries Not Included is a favorite. Since you've chosen fantasy movies, I would Jumanji, although it is a mid '90's movie (you did say 80's/90's). Super list!

There are some you have not heard of? I thought they were all really popular.

  3. The favorites of my childhood date back to the '50s and '60s, and more often than not trended toward science fiction, so they weren't really what you'd call children's movies: Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea; The Day the Earth Stood Still; a whole slew of '50s low-tech space operas; and, of course, Hammer horror films.

I was actually talking to a friend about "The Day the Earth stood still" yesterday. I have heard of the movie, but never actually seen it. It is funny really, since doing this blog I have had so many great movie recommendations. I do love the older movies because the effects were so bad they really had to focus on the "story" aspect. I don't think I have seen Voyage to the Bottom of the sea either, but it does a ring a bell. Will look it up and see if I have watched it, lol.

  5. Awesome. Seen all of them, love all of them. Always wanted a Yorksire Terrier just so I can name him Sir Didymus ;-)

lol, I am so annoyed that I didn't think about calling any of my doggies that! I think that would top the "Best Dog Name" list, lol.
